A Glimpse of Our History
Since 2020, The Rachel Tower has been a dream that is now come through fruition. Here below you can see some drafts that were drawn in the planning of the building we now stand in.
The Beginning
Grass clearing started a month later on 6 April 2020 at 17:28 with a TLB rented at LA GENERALE DE FORAGE supervised by Norbert Norbert Mahuwa.
Purchase of the Empty plot from a lawyer in Kolwezi, Lualaba, DRC. Purchase Deal concluded on 2 March 2020 at 9:54 PM
Due the water challenge in the area for the construction. It was decided to dig a borehole of 85 meters deep with a final casing of 125 mm. The water table was encountered at 43 meters deep. An electrical submersible pump was installed at 55 meters deep.
10 April 2021 at 1.06 PM, Construction of the foundation had started. 24 pillars were installed at 2.20 meters deep onto a concrete slab of 1 meters square with MASSIF made of steel of 12 mm.
Longerine (highly concentration of cements & steel of 12 mm) was constructed with wherever the walls are today. On top of the Longerine, strong big stones supplied by FORREST Kolwezi to build the foundation. Backfill was done with laterite and highly compacted with an automatic compacting machine rented from EKMM SARL.
Raising the walls
On the 15 August 2022 at 4.43 PM.
The ground floor was completed and Beams & concrete slab preparation was being completed.
1 year later, on 22 March 2022 at 3.43 PM, Construction resumed with the construction
of the hotel. Bricks of 20 x 20 x 40 mm were used supplied by KILMA BRICKS in Musompo Kolwezi
The concrete slab was poured over 24 hours with 40 people. 300 bags of ciments or 7.5 tonnes of cements mixed with crushed sand of Katonto was mixed, poured and vibrated throughout the surface area of 196 squared meters. It is important to note that this stage was the most expensive stage of the entire construction. Picture taken 27 August 2022 at 03:18 AM.
The first and final floor construction was completed on 9 December 2022 at 07: 17 AM by Engineer François Cedrick Banza and designed by The Architect Joseph Kasiho Biamungu
Finishing Touches
The tiles roof imported from China started being placed 11 January 2023 at 4.50 PM and fully completed on 20 January 2023 at 5.01 PM. 566 RED TILES OF 140 X 40 X 0.6 mm and 34 RIDGE Valley Tray of 100 x 2000 x 100 mm were installed
The structural wooden framework made of fir wood was designed and installed by a team of 3 people headed by Mambe for the purpose of supporting the roof. This stage of the construction started on 31 December 2022 at 3.56 PM and was completed on 11 January 2023 at 4.23 PM.
As of the on 28 August 2023, The Hotel launched its operations
